University College Cork claimed the Colleges and Universities National Futsal Cup title today with a penalties win over IT Carlow at Gormanston College.

IT Carlow were aiming for three in a row but couldn’t find a way past man of the match Roberto Verdu in the UCC goal. In a game of few chances Verdu was the outstanding player and went on to save four penalties as UCC’s multi national team won 5-4. Manager Greg Yelverton was delighted with the win saying “this is great for all the International Students in the University who play in the many futsal events hosted in The Mardyke. The players are so easy to work with and they are very proud to wear the UCC jersey”.
