CFAI Robert Eustace Cup Final Report

03 March 2014

A four goal haul from Robbie Corcoran helped Waterford IT get the better of a battling Moate Business College and capture the Colleges FAI Robert Eustace Cup at Athlone IT.

The Suirsiders were always in control of this exciting nine goal decider but Moate certainly gave them plenty to think about after recovering from going three behind to reduce the deficite to a single goal midway into way into the second half.
But the more experienced Waterford outfit struck back and wrapped up the win with three further goals.
Michael Ryan had Waterford in front with a rather fortunate goal when his high ball from out on the right flank curled over the head of goalkeeper David McKervey on 18 minutes.
Corcoran then got the first of his four goals after 28 minutes helped by a slip by defender Richard Harris.
A third from Corcorcan shortly after the break looked like Moate were facing a heavy defeat.
But Miriam Halley's side bounced back and two goals from their impressive striker Darren Donnelly, the first a well dispatched penalty and the second a brilliant individual effort gave them some hope.
However with Corcoran proving such a threat in front of goal it was'nt too long before he added two further goals to stretch their lead with 15 minutes remaining and not surprisingly picked up the man of the match award.
Michael Daly reduced the arrears with a great finish and Seamus Kavanagh rounded off a deserved win for Waterford with the sixth goal in the closing minute.
