GMIT Galway got their day off to a winning start with a win over Western rivals Limerick IT. Avril Dalton took the lead when she flicked on Kellie Murphy Feeley's free kick. Emily Doyle nearly made it 2-0 as she smacked the post with a shot. Galway were fortune to hold on to their lead as Bronagh O'Rourke was forced into two great saves before Dalton eventually doubled the advantage as her shot squirmed past Limerick keeper Ella Mae Cull.
