DCU and UCC both overcame stern challenges in the semi finals to advance to Sunday's Cup Final.

Semi Final wins for both DCU and UCC have set up an intriguing Dublin Cork battle in the Irish Universities Harding Cup final at College Park to-morrow Sunday (2.0).

DCU are now one step away from claiming their first ever Irish Universities Harding Cup after they put paid to holders UCD chance for back to back wins with a convincing 2-0 semi final victory.

Jack O'Connor was the DCU goal scoring hero hitting a goal in each half to add to the brace he managed in the previous day's quarter final tie against Trinity College.

O'Connor got off the mark with just 10 minutes played with a cool finish past Conor Kearns after he latched on to a long clearance from the DCU 'keeper Lee Doyle.
UCD never really got going but they did have efforts from Ben Hanrahan and Fergal McDonald saved by Doyle before the break.

But O'Connor struck again before the hour mark with his second goal to seal the win when he applied a neat finish to Sean McCarthy's low cross from the right.

UCC had lead from early on with a goal from David Dalton and they looked like going through to the decider until NUI Galway showed tremendous spirit to battle back and claim a late equaliser from Maurice Nugent to send the tie into extra time.

The extra 20 minutes in the testing conditions failed to settle the issue and the Cork side eventually came out on top 4-2 in a penalty shoot out.
The Plate Final at (11.0) will see University of Limerick take on the Maynooth University 'B' side.

UL just managed to edge out Maynooth 'A' 3-2 with goals from Evan Patterson, Shane McCallion and a Niall Brennan penalty.

While Maynooth's reply came from Dean George and Stephen Mullins.

Two goals from Pat O'Sullivan with one from the penalty spot and another brace from Joe McIntyre plus Danny Willis with the fifth gave Maynooth 'B' a comfortable 5-1 win over Trinity College. Rory Nairn replied for the host university.
