Maynooth were clearly the stronger side in a scoreless opening half although Limerick had come into the game in the latter stages.
But the loss of winger Gordon McKevitt who was sent off by referee John Thornton on the hour mark after a tackle on defender Connor Hynes proved to be a major set back for the Limerick side.
The ten men struggled after that and ten minutes later they found themselves behind to a Danny Willis goal set up by good work from Joseph McKinney.
A fine finish by Joe McIntyre after he burst through the Limerick defence doubled the score on 80 minutes.
The win was sealed by Ryan Harris in the closing stages after he had replaced McIntyre minutes earlier.
