The shortlist for the 2016 'Three' FAI International Football Awards has been unveiled ahead of the ceremony taking place in RTE Studios on Sunday, 19 March.
This year's ceremony - which will be the 27th overall - has been extended to an hour and a half with live coverage on RTE2 from 20:00, where the nominees will be joined by special guests and the Republic of Ireland men's senior squad.
There is one new category added with 'Colleges/Universities International Player of the Year' recognising the best players to feature for Greg Yelverton's team last year.
Georgie Poynton (Dundalk IT), Matthew Connor (Waterford IT) and Paul Rooney (Maynooth University) have all been announced as the three nominations for the Colleges and Universities side who started their second campaign as a joint Colleges and Universities team yesterday with a 2-0 victory over the Defence Forces.

All three players were involved in last season's international fixtures against Scotland, Wales and France. Poynton scored twice against the Scots and Welsh, with Connor keeping clean sheets against the two British sides. Rooney was excellent throughout, and was selected as Man of the Match against Wales and subsequently moved to EFL League One side Millwall FC in the summer.
