Goals from Molly Farrell, Aoife Walsh, Shauna Fox and Lisa Casserly helped the Galwegian side to success.
Limerick has become a happy hunting ground for the NUI Galway girls as exactly twelve months since they captured the Women's Premier Division crown at the UL Cappavilla 3G venue Johnny Hynes side returned to administered a 4-1 defeat on the home side University of Limerick and come away with the League Cup.
The home side received a early boost when Fiona Moloney in a swift UL counter attack got through a rather casual Galway defence to steer the ball past goalkeeper Louise Creaven after seven minutes.
The goal was a wake up call for the Galway side who peppered the home goal with Lisa Casserly and Alison McGonigle having shots saved by Laura Fitrzgerald.
Eventually they got back on terms midway into the half after Molly Farrell latched on to a through ball from Michelle Doherty to outpace the home defence and beat the advancing Fitzgerald.
Galway had the upper hand for the remainder of the half, Farrell hit the post and Doherty's shot from the rebound was deflected for a corner while Casserly had a shot saved by the busy Fitzgerald.
Aoife Walsh then took advantage of hesitance in the UL defence to grab the lead for Galway on the half hour.
UL were unlucky not to get back on terms for a period after the break with Lauren Keane just failing to get her head on to Katie Hurley's great right wing cross.
While Eleanor Stafford hooked a good chance over the bar and Moloney headed a Hurley corner just past the post.
The tide turned in favour of Galway with 15 minutes remaining when first Shauna Fox was well positioned to clear Stafford's close range free kick off the line.
Then minutes later Fox, selected as player of the match, herself struck the decisive goal when she fired home a brilliant 40 yards free kick to give Galway some breathing space with a 3-1 advantage.
Moloney might have cut that lead shortly after but after bursting through the Galway defence her final effort came off the post and Sarah Peters was grateful to concede a corner.
Galway finished on a high and Casserly then sealed the win in time added on with a well struck long range effort.
