Amber Barrett grabbed a hat trick as Maynooth University powered their way into the Women's Intervarsities Cup Final with a convincing 5-0 victory over University of Limerick in a one sided semi final tie at UCC Sports Ground, The Farm.
The Premier Division champions will now bid for a famous cup and league double when they take on NUI Galway in the to-morrow's final at The Mardyke (3.0).
The Galway side came from behind to edge out UCD with a narrow 3-2 win in their semi final tie thanks to second half goals from Michelle Doherty, Lisa Casserly and Aoife Walsh.
Hannah Flately got Maynooth off to a flying start with an opener on seven minutes from Barrett's cross.
Then Barrett began her goal haul ten minutes later when she ran through on a long ball over the top from Flately to beat UL 'keeper Laura Fitzgerald with a neat lob.
Fitzgerald was in action again but this time she did well to keep out efforts from Rachel Smith, Flately and Barrett.
While in rare UL attacks just before the break Sarah Ryan and Lauren Keane tested Brooke Dunne in the Maynooth goal but with little effect.
UL went close with early second half effort from Keane and Eleanor Stafford before Maynooth took control and Barrett went on to complete her hat trick with two further goals.
The first on 53 minutes from a pin point Rachel Doyle cross and the Maynooth top scorer followed up with just over 20 minutes remaining when she ran on to Smith's cross and steered the ball past Fitzgerald.
Riona Cullen hit home the fifth goal ten minutes from the finish to keep the impressive Maynooth on track for the double.
Dearbhaile Beirne got UCD off to a flying start against NUI Galway when she cut in from the left wing and curled a brilliant strike past 'keeper Louise Creaven on 18 minutes.
Beirne might have doubled the total seven minutes later after she picked up Niamh Moran's a great cross field pass but her finish was just outside the post.
Ciara Grant then hit the post as UCD went into the half time break looking the more likely side to progress.
However the tide turned in favour of Galway ten minutes after the restart with Michelle Doherty getting a touch to a Walsh cross for the equaliser.
The Corribsiders then took control with Lisa Casserly at the heart of their come back and she put them in front on 70 minutes from close in after UCD 'keeper Jennifer Moore failed to hold a Shauna Fox free kick.
Walsh's well struck left footed drive then stretched the lead five minutes later to leave Galway in a comfortable position.
UCD did manage a brief late come back and Claire Walsh cut the lead seven minutes from time.
But despite late efforts from Katrina Moore and Beirne Galway held out to progress to the final.
The Plate Final will see the hosts UCC take on IT Sligo.
The Cork girls saw off a disappointing IT Carlow with goals from Ciara McNamara, Emer Gilroy and Lauren Murphy.
While a lone strike early in the second half from Northern Ireland international Catherine Hyndeman was enough for IT Sligo to overcome Waterford IT who had to play for 70 minutes a player down after Gillian McKenna picked up a second yellow card.
DCU defeated Garda College Templemore 4-1 to book a place in the Shield decider against Ulster University.
Aoife O'Gorman had put the Garda in front shortly after they had lost the influential Julie Condon with a serious injury mid way into the opening half.
DCU then got on top and two goals from Aoibhin Webb and further scores from Sally Keoghan and Aisling Frawley saw them comfortably through.
Meanwhile Ulster University helped by hat tricks from Niamh Connolly and Chloe McGlade proved too strong for Trinity College coming away with a 11-2 victory.
