01 February 2011

UCC Fresher Simon Holland, a member of the UCC Soccer Player Development Programme, has signed with Cork City FC.

Holland, 19, has represented the club at underage level, and made his senior debut away to Finn Harps towards the end of the 2010 season. Commenting on the signing, City boss Tommy Dunne told CorkCityFC.net that he was pleased to have signed the young midfielder, saying: “Simon is on the player development programme at UCC which is something we would like to get more of our players on. He is a talented young player who we believe can develop and offer something to the team.”

FAI Facilitator Greg Yelverton launched the programme in 2010. He was delighted for Holland's recognition: “We have worked hard to  put in place a professional, structured programme that will enable our players to develop as an elite sportsperson and to enable them to succeed at the highest level in their sporting and personal life. We will provide a pathway and personal support for the players to perform at the highest level on offer to them.”
