IT Carlow and UCD joined Waterford IT, DIT, Cork IT in the quarter finals after today’s results

Premier West

Premier League holders IT Carlow, with two goals from Ray Foy and one from Noel Haverty went 3-0 at IT Sligo. Sligo rallied with goals from Liam Martin and Keith Nibbs but the game ended in Carlow’s favour and they top the group. IT Sligo will have to sweat it out as Athlone take on Maynooth on Thursday in the other vital game where only a win for either one of these sides will see them progress, a draw will see Sligo through. GMIT Galway drew 2-2 with NUI Galway at Terryland Park in the Annual BR Cup Colours game, with NUIG winning 4-3 on penalties.

Premier East

DIT top the group with UCD finishing runners-up. UCD were surprisingly beaten 5-0 at home to DCU. DCU were outstanding and goals from John Mulroy (2), Ian Byrne, David Gaul and Harry English left manager Fran Butler wondering what could have been for DCU.. Two goals from Jack Watson and one from Marwan Azimi for Danny Crowleys young Colaiste Ide  were enough for Colaiste Ide to beat Trinity College for whom Graham Conway replied.

Premier North

A hat-trick from Adam Clarke saw Magee College shock last season’s quarter finalists Belfast Met 5-2. 2009 Finalists Letterkenny IT hammered Univerity of Ulster Coleraine 8-0 with hat-tricks from Oisin McMenamin and Davitt Walsh. Matchday five is next week and the group is now wide open.

CUFL Division One

In the big Division One game GTI beat GMIT Castlebar to top spot with a 6-0 win with both sides already through to the quarter finals.
