The FAI in association with the Institute of Sport, Student Travelcard and UEFA are proud to announce seven Irish Women’s internationals as the recipients of their Soccer Scholarship Programme for 2011/12
The Scholarship Programme targets young international players, who have the potential to play for the Women’s Senior National Squad. The programme is designed to provide support to the students in a number of ways including assistance with planning and managing studies through the partnership with the Institute of Sport. It also monitors the girls in terms of physical fitness by providing them with individual strength / conditioning and nutrition programmes, along with some financial assistance.
The overall aim of the Institute of Sport Athlete Support Programme is to help create an environment in which elite players can access support to help them combine their international sporting career with their education in a way that allows them to achieve their potential in both fields. Because of this support, our partnership with the Institute of Sport is invaluable to our scholarship recipients.
Among the recipients of the Soccer Scholarship Programme are, Karen Duggan (Kilkenny), Julienne Russell (Galway), Louise Quinn (Dublin), Megan Campbell (Dublin), Grace Murray (Louth), Dora Gorman (Galway) and Ciara Grant (Donegal).
