First half goals from Noel Haverty and Dean Broaders gave IT Carlow the edge over DCU at Leixlip and proved enough to get them into their third Colleges and Universities Premier League final in four years.
IT CARLOW 2 DCU 0
The Carlow side Premier League champions in 2011 and 2012 who were defeated by DCU at the semi final stage last season were clearly the better side on the day.
Full back Haverty headed them in front on 24 minutes from a well delivered Andy Mulligan free kick.
Broaders doubled the score just before the break with a shot from distance that DCU ‘keeper Ben Dale appeared to miss judge.
DCU lifted their game in the second half gaining plenty of possession but they failed to pose any real threat with Carlow ‘keeper Seamus Haughton rarely tested.
Carlow will now face UCD in the decider on Tuesday February 18.
