review match day 4 and match day 5 preview

The second last match day saw some closely contested matches, with Maynooth University narrowly defeating I.T. Sligo 5-4, Aoife Brennan dominating the scoring for Sligo and Sara Lawlor(2), Amber Barrett (2) and Julie Condon all hitting the net for Maynooth.


There was another close match on the I.T. Tralee campus with them sharing the points with U.L., with the match finishing 1-1. In Carlow, Waterford I.T. were the travelling side, but the home college took all they points, with a 3-0 win, Rebecca Horgan hitting home twice and Niamh Kelly adding the third. UCD beat AIT 7-0 with Ciara Grant bagging a double hatrick and Orla Nolan scoring the seventh.
Across all three groups in the First division, there were high scoring matches. UCD B were hosts to ITT Dublin, and the home side took all three points with a convincing 6-0 win. In group B, 24 goals were scored over two matches and 16 of them were seen in the DCU match. The northside panel who are on winning form this season, were hosts to Drogheda Institute of Further Education at the AUL. The match lasted only forty five minutes, but in that time, Rosin Cafferty hit home four times, Sarah Sweeney claimed her hatrick, Cadhla Gillen scored twice and Jessica Brady, Maebh Sheelan, Aisling Frawley, Lucy Sherwin, Aideen Coyle, Niamh Connolly and Fiona Tracey all got their moment of glory with a goal each. This is nine points from nine for DCU and they are looking like a threatening team at the Intervarsity qualifiers next week. UUJ won the battle of the Ulster derby with an 8-0 win over NWRC. Having dominated group C all season Cork IT's winning form continued as they travelled to Galway. With goals from Marina Bustillis (4), Amanda Budden (2), Taylor Kruschel, Rosin McGrath and Mary Kate Morrissey, they claimed all three points with a 9-0 win over GMIT. Mary I and Limerick shared the points with a 0-0 final score.

Preview Match Day Five
The final match day of this years' league see it finishing with some interesting matches. With UCD and Maynooth University having won all their matches so far, they meet this week in UCD and will both be looking to claim the three points. NUIG play hosts to IT Sligo whilst AIT have their league complete as there are idle this week. WIT make the trip to Limerick to face UL whilst IT Carlow welcome UCC. It Tralee are also finished and are idle this week.
Within in the First Division, ITT Dublin well the Kildare side of Maynooth University B, DIT play hosts to UCD B, and Trinity are idle. UUJ may the slightly shorter trip than usual are up against Drogheda Institute of Further Education. DCU make the shorter trip to IT Blanchardstown as they look to make it four wins from four, giving the team and their new coaching duo of Grace McAuley and Noelle Murray quite the successful first season in charge. And NWRC have completed their first season in this league. UCC B make the trip to GMIT and Cork IT play hosts to Mary I whilst Limerick IT are idle.
