Holders UCD will bid to retain the Irish Universities Harding Cup with testing quarter final tie against University of Limerick.
The tournament will be hosted by UCC from Friday February 6 - Sunday February 8 with all the games taking place at the UCC Sports Ground - The Farm, Curraheen- apart from the final which is set for The Mardyke.
The Belfield side will be aiming to complete a hat trick of wins in the popular Irish University competition confined to first year students having beaten Trinity College Dublin in the 2013 decider at Coleraine and held on to the trophy last year with a late victory over NUI Galway on the splendid All Weather 3G surface at the University of Limerick.
Regrettably none of the Northern Ireland based universities have entered the competition for a second successive year which has left the IrishUniversities executive with an awkward seven team entry. However they have overcome this up by permitting the hosts UCC to play a second side UCC Academicals - to bring the total up to a more manageable eight teams. The tournament kicks off on Friday February 6 with four quarter final ties to bedecided, with the semi finals on the following day. While the final is scheduled for Cork Mardyke Arena on Sunday February 8.
