PREMIER LEAGUE ROUND UP

Holders UCD got their Colleges and Universities Premier League season off to a flyer with a convincing 5-1 win over Athlone IT at Belfield.
A Jason McClelland opener on 23 minutes set them up nicely although Athlone were well in the game and managed to hold the homesters to that soliditary score until the break.
Maxi Kouogun doubled the advantage four minutes into the second half and when Joe O'Mahony pulled a goal back for Michael O'Connor's side shortly after it looked as if the holders might have a game on hand.
But UCD responded quickly with a third from skipper Samir Belhout with the aid of a lucky deflection.
Further scores from Timmy Molloy and Mark Boland sealed the win.
Last season's beaten finalists Maynooth University gave new manager Aaron Callaghan the best possible start with 1-0 win over DIT on the new All Weather surface at Grangegorman.
Niall Conron was on target with the only goal mid way in the second half.
While in the other Premier North section game Trinity came from behind to snatch a valuable point in a 1-1 draw with DCU at College Park.
Sean Pender had the Glasnevin side in front before Ronan Hanaphy equalised from the penalty spot.
In the South section IT Carlow were held 2-2 at home by an impressive UL side.
Adam O'Rourke and Johnny Bonner hit the home side's goals and a brace from Garbhan Coughlan rescued a well deserved point for the Limerick boys.
UCC took all three points from their visit to Waterford IT with goals from Evan Browne (2) and Cian Murphy.

DIVISION TWO GROUP A
IT Blanchardstown 'B' begun their campaign with an emphatic win away to Air Corps. Brian McCrossan scored a brace with Curtis Durnin, Francis Illunga, AJ Ryan and Patrick Obijuru also getting their names on the scoresheet. Paul Mitchell and Danny Smith grabbed consolation strikes for the Air Corps.
