scholar watch - fai cup rd 2

24 May 2016

We've got a special edition of Scholar-Watch as we focus on the Colleges & Universities players in the SSE Airtricity League who took part in the FAI Daily Mail Cup, with a special mention to some of our non-league players who helped their sides grab headlines

Notable Appearances

UCD's Gary O'Neill has already established himself as a serious contender for the SSE Airtricity Division One Player of the Year and further enhanced his credentials with another outstanding performance for the Belfield side capped off by another dead-ball finish to give his side the lead versus Bray Wanderers.

Another Colleges & University player who has hit the ground running in the opening weeks of the campaign is Bohemian's Ayman Ben Mohamed who tore apart Galway United in the week he was called up to the Tunisia senior squad.

Our Colleges & Universities non-league players did not waste their opportunities in the cup as Roy Kenny and CU International Rob Coughlan were outstanding in Ringmahon Ranger's victory over Glebe North with Kenny credited with a superb finish to give his side the lead. CU International Dan McGuinness was resolute in the heart of the Crumlin United defence, along with DCU's Luke Kelly as they pulled off the giantkilling story of the round as they dumped Finn Harps out of the competition
