2016/17 Third Level Football Season launched
The 2016/17 Third Level Football season was launched at FAI HQ today. This season's Leagues will see 108 teams from 50 Third Level institutions compete across five divisions in the CUFL and three divisions in the WSCAI. The launch had representatives attend from all third level institutions as well as a number of star players for each side including Jamie McGrath and Jack Watson, who also play in the SSE Airtricity League. This week in the WSCAI the final group games took place and in the Northern Section IT Sligo made sure they kept their 100% record intact as they beat UUJ 7-0 with help from Aoife Brennan who netted an impressive four times in the game. Elsewhere, NUI Galway had a huge win over UL in a tight game but this means they now have a home game in the Plate Semi Final. In the Challenge Cup Drogheda Institute and Mary I Limerick both travelled to Portlaoise but Mary I were too strong on the day and left with an 8-0 win over the Louth side.
