European Connection

28 August 2017

When the final whistle blows on Ireland and Great Britain in the World University Games, another seismic battle with Third Level connections will be underway in the UEFA Womens Champions League when Linfield Ladies take on Shelbourne Ladies in Seaview, Belfast.

Victory for Shelbourne will see them qualify for the next phase with it mathematically impossible for the Belfast side but there is more than qualification at stake in the all-Ireland clash.

There will also be a strong third level representation from both sides with Jennifer McDade, Louise McFrederick, Alison Smyth, Ashley Hutton and Chloe McCarron all students across the campuses of Ulster University.

For the Continental Tyres Women's National League champions, Rachel Graham represents IT Carlow, with Sophie Watters studying in Dundalk IT and Niamh Walsh & Siobhan Killeen students of UCD.

We would like to wish both sides the best of luck today and may the best side win.
