Irish Combined Colleges Trials

23 January 2009

Details of trials and scheduled matches

Due to the recent bad weather, the pitches for the Irish Combined Trial scheduled to take place on Saturday January 24th in the University of Limerick are unplayable and therefore the trial will not take place.

The Irish Combined College managers, Eoin Killackey and Emma Martin have requested that an Interprovincial trial will take place in each province before February the 21st. On the basis of players performance at these trials, the combined managers will request players attendance at the next Irish Combined trial on the 21st of February. The venue for this trial will be confirmed.

Each Interprovincial manager will be in contact with the college contact in the coming days with details of trials. Maz Sweeney for Connaught, Stephen Griffin for Munster and Breifne Early for Leinster.

The position for Ulster Interprovincial manager remains vacant and until the position is filled an Ulster Interprovincial trial cannot be orgainsed. We would ask all of the Ulster colleges to consider a suitable candidate and contact us at wscai@thirdlevelfootball.ie with further details.

From the Irish Combined trial on the 21st of February a squad will be selected to compete against the Ireland U19 Ladies team in March.

The Interprovincial and Irish Combined Colleges stage provides players with an ideal opportunity for progression to compete at the World Student Games. This year the games will be held in Belgrade, Serbia from 1st -12th July 2009.
