Womens Kick Start One and Referee Courses

04 February 2009

The WSCAI are please to announce that the FAI will be holding two education courses for Women. A referees course and a Kick Start One.

The FAI will be hosting an Kick Start 1 for Women on Sunday, March 8th.

This will take place in Inchicore Community Sports Hall, St Michaels, Inchicore, Dublin 8( Opposite St Pats’ ground).

The FAI Community Development Officers are continually striving to develop the womens game from grassroots to seniors.  We would like to see this development continue, From what we have seen, there are few women refereeing or coaching young girls, or even senior women, so we hope that these courses might have a positive affect on developing the game in the Dublin and surrounding area.

Please spread the word as best you can so the courses can reach as many women as possible.

Women Only Referee Beginners Course

What do the following Women Internationals have in common?   Denmark v Netherlands; Norway v United States; France v United States;

Slovakia v Denmark or Norway v Sweden.  What about the UEFA Women U19 Poland v Armenia and Armenia v Austria Championship games or the UEFA Women U17 fixture between Faroe Islands v Romania?

Add in the first ever UEFA Women U17 Final refereed by Rhona Daly and you have some of the major European appointments received by Irish Women Referees in the last year....and already the invitations have already started coming in for 2009.

There are also plenty of Women and Schoolgirl games in all age-groups locally in what is one of the fastest growing areas of the game.  So there are plenty of opportunities for an enthusiastic and committed Woman official.

The Football Association of Ireland is organising a Women Only Referee Beginners Course on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 February at the Inchicore Community Sports Hall, St Michaels, Inchicore, Dublin 8 (opposite St. Patricks Athletic Ground)

This is a course with an emphasis on practical and interactive participation, and is open to Women over 16 years of age.  It will encompass the latest UEFA, FAI and Coaching Ireland methodologies.

This is a course for those who intend to actively participate as Referees.  Support systems will be in place to help and advise them in their refereeing and Certificates will be presented on completion of a set number of games.

The cost of the course will be €50 and includes all materials and FAI Referee registration fees for the current season.

For further details and to book a place on the course, please email referees@fai.ie or text WOMEN REF and your name to 086 8588922
