Ireland Womens win Fair Play Award at the World University Games
Manager Sue Ronan, along with Louise Quinn (captain) and Lynn-Marie Grant (vice captain) were presented with the Fair Play Award at the Finals Ceremony of the World UNiversity Games.
Picking up a total of just two yellow cards in six games saw Ireland pip Germany to the Award. Ronan was delighted with the award: "It was an nice to win the Fair Play Award at the recent WSG’s, even if it wasn’t the trophy I had in mind when we set out at the beginning of the tournament! However, it was still an honour for the girls to come home with this piece of silverware, particularly after the fantastic performances they put in during the two weeks, when practically everything that could go wrong, went wrong for us from day one!
But the tournament itself was a fantastic occasion and one which the girls will have learned loads from. I’m sure it is the highlight of their careers to date"
