It was an action packed week of WSCAI fixtures as teams entered the knockout stages of the league and cup finals.
The Premier division cup was a closely fought encounter in both semi-finals. Maynooth University welcomed University College Cork in the first semi-final. Amber Barrett was the hero of the day as her hatrick, cancelled out UCC's goals scored by Vanessa Ogbanna and Laura Lynch. MU advance to their first premier final, and have been in impressive form all season defeating league favourites UCD and IT Sligo along the way.
In the other Premier Division semi-final, UCD made the short trip to IT Carlow, again another close game which went right to the wire. IT Carlow took the lead through Amy Walsh, but UCD's Mary Tyrell scored the all-important equaliser to push the game into extra time. The home side had the final say as Walsh again stepped up score the winner. So it'll be Maynooth University and IT Carlow that will go head to head in the Premier Division Final. No doubt it'll be another cracker as they standard of women's football at third level football continues to rise.
In the Premier Shield semis in-form Waterford IT overcame NUI Galway with a convincing six nil win, while IT Sligo overcame IT Tralee. IT Sligo and WIT go head to head in the Shield final, both teams will be vying to end the year with silverware, IT Sligo are no strangers to winning and will use this experience heading into the final. While WIT, have gotten a taste for success in recent year or so and will be looking to keep progressing the way they have been and finish the league on a high.
