Intervarsity Tournament Entry Closing December 14th 2008

08 December 2008

Please ensure your college's entry is in on time if you wish to participate

The competition is open for entry from all WSCAI teams registered to a league.

As of the 8th of December, entries received from Athlone IT, CCFE, CIT, DCU, GMIT, IT Sligo, IT Tralee, Mary Immaculate, Queens Uni Belfast, Trinity, UCD, UL, UCC, UUJ and WIT.

The competition is run over three days. The 12 teams are seeded and randomly drawn into 4 goups with each team playing 2 group games. The top of each group goes through to the cup semi final, and the runners up progresses to the plate semi final.

Entry to the tournament requires a completed application form accompanied by a payment of €400, €200 of which is returned to the college on participation in the competition. €300 is refunded to a team that participates in the Qualifying Intervarsity day but fails to progress to the main tournament.

If there are more than 12 teams that enter the competition on close of entry date, a qualifying day takes place. For the qualifying competition, depending on the teams that enter, there are at least 3 IV positions up for grabs at the Intervarsity Qualifiers.

Teams that progressed to semi final stage in the previous season's IV competition, cup or plate, qualify automatically for the main Intervarsity competition. There can be up to 9 teams that qualify automatically, 8 from the previous competition plus the host team.
